ANITA'S STORY

My name is Anita and I'm here to stand by you every step of the way on your road to wellness.

I am originally from New Zealand, and as a youngster was very fit & active. But when my mum passed away suddenly

at the young age of 39, I fell into a long path of self-destruction. I SPENT 15 YEARS IN AN UNHEALTHY RUT.

One morning I woke up and could not recognize myself in the mirror. 40kg (88 pounds!) over my healthy weight,

I had spiraled into a slew of bad habits, lost my confidence and ambitionand found a new best friend in food.

I was battling chronic joint pain, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, and psoriasis, and I knew something had to change.

BUT WHERE DO I START?

Finding a gym felt like the scariest, most daunting activity, but I made myself try. My consult was upsetting (to say the least)

- sterile and impersonal. I felt judged and some of my very honest responses regarding food & drink choices and

consumption levels were scolded at. Wasn't that what I was there for?

I cried all the way home, and went straight to the fridge.

I WILL NOT BE DEFEATED.

I knew I had to be my own cheerleader and went back to the gym the next day. My first Spin class I rushed to the bathroom and threw up half way through the warm up. No-one said anything about pacing myself! So I tried Yoga.  It was definitely more my cup of tea.

SO I KEPT GOING.

I studied hard and began taking baby steps towards healthier eating. Slowly I started feeling better, the fog lifted and I was

getting excited about life again. One day, one of the senior instructors approached me and asked if I was interested in becoming a

fitness instructor. "Are you kidding me?” I laughed. She looked me in the eye and sincerely asked me why I didn't think that was possible.

TURNING POINT

Someone believed in me. A stranger. So why shouldn't I believe in myself? I would love to be a fitness instructor!

Getting to this point was tough, and I knew I wanted to help others have a more positive, nurtured, journey,

believing in them when they could not believe in themselves.

Oddly enough, my first certification was as a Spin Instructor! I was still holding on to a considerable amount of extra weight and smoking

a pack of cigarettes a day. I continued working on my own wellness while pursuing and obtaining various certifications, but I really wanted to reach people on a more one-on-one basis. So I became a Personal Trainer. I gained valuable experience at a large gym company for several years, but still felt there were a lot of missing links.

I decided to go out on my own and build an environment where people felt comfortable. It grew into a warm, motivational and supportive community, driven by a fun and holistic approach to health. We've had a few different iterations over the years, but the supportive,

fun, and sustainable approach has never tired.

So WELCOME! I can't wait to meet you.
